Although the analytics market has been plagued by hype that oversold capabilities and created skeptics, users now are beginning to realize that the same analytics functions that can be used in a security environment can be applied to situations where lengthy and detailed observation--beyond the limits of the human attention span--can add significant business value.
The only question is how soon enterprises will recognize analytics technology has great value beyond its basic security applications such as perimeter protection, license plate recognition, object move, intrusion detection, loitering, object removed, object left behind, and speeding.
